Good news for owners of the Tempest Weather System by WeatherFlow-Tempest, Inc. Now you can have a locally displayed console specifically designed to display your weather observations in real-time.

Teapot for Tempest listens on your local network (LAN) for broadcasts from your Tempest device. It then displays weather data on your iPad or iPhone. Teapot for Tempest was designed to be readable from across the room when using it on an iPad. An iPad mini allows visibility from up to 12 feet, and iPhones are easily readable when used as a desktop console.

Teapot for Tempest has 2 displays to select from depending on conditions and what you want to see.

The "Normal View" displays all the relevant data necessary to keep tabs on conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind gusts, daily rain, rain storm totals, rain rate, and sky conditions such as UV, LUX and solar radiation. It also displays sunrise and sunset.

The "Storm View" displays all the above items except sky conditions. In its place, Teapot for Tempest displays a live weather radar map for your location. It updates automatically so no user intervention is necessary. Whenever you are expecting a storm, all you need to do is tap the Storm View" icon, and everything you need to see will be right there.

Setup couldnt be easier. Teapot will search for your Tempest device and connect automatically. Your weather data stays private. Only devices logged into your local network or WiFi will be able to receive your Tempest data.

As most Tempest Weather System owners know, WeatherFlow-Tempest uses a system called "NearCast" to calculate your rainfall. Basically. they look at the raw rainfall data from your station and others in your area to compute a reading based on averaging several other stations. Many Tempest owners report inaccuracies and unexpected results using this method.

Teapot for Tempest offers a unique rainfall calibration function that helps to improve your rainfall display accuracy. By using another weather station or simple rain gauge as a comparison, you can adjust your rainfall readings to an actual "known accurate" rain collector. This will greatly improve your rainfall reading accuracy. It uses a simple slider to adjust plus or minus percentages that is non-destructive. It only modifies the displayed reading, and leaved the underlying raw data in its original state.

Teapot also allows you to select light or dark modes overriding your system settings, or you can choose to follow your system settings.

Teapot for Tempest uses its own weather radar map using Apple Maps and radar data from RainViewer. Youre not limited to our map however. We have provided a mechanism to allow any embeddable map you may prefer. Several weather providers offer embedded maps for personal use. To embed an alternative weather radar map, all you need is the URL from the provider. And, if you need any help, were happy to assist you.
